Artist Statament.

My artistic research aims to translate concepts and emotions into shapes. Sometimes they are too blurred to be contained or described only with few forms. Therefore, I combine different shapes in an intuitive and instinctive order, creating compositions that resemble an abstract architectural landscape.

This is a meditative and transcendental process from start to finish. Baring each painting begins with a few directional lines. At the beginning I’m in control of what happens on the canvas. Then slowly, as the painting progress, it evolves its own identity and personality until it dictates what should be done next. Lines evolve into shapes according to a personal balance between instinct and reason. Sometimes the initial idea diverges into a completely different concept. This is a long and laborious process, requiring several months to complete one painting.

I usually use jute canvas for my paintings. I leave large parts of the canvas unpainted and barely primed so that the visible canvas texture creates an atmospheric space surrounding the subject of the painting.
